Horsham off the mark, as they chop down Oaks
Horsham’s participation in the Sussex Senior Cup is over after Southern Combined Premier League side Pagham knocked out Dom Di Paola’s Hornets, despite playing most of the match with ten men.
Having opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Callum Overton, Pagham had fullback Ryan Cox dismissed on twenty minutes following a reckless challenge on Jack Hartley, yet they made it to half time with their lead intact, and doubled it less than ten minutes into the second half, when Overton converted from close range.
Horsham had a superb opportunity to cut the lead in half when House was pulled to ground inside the penalty area, but a fine save from Scott Kirkwood’s spot kick proved the impetus for The Lions to kill the game off minutes later, when Dan Simmonds powered home to make it 3-0 on a cold and disappointing night for Horsham supporters.
