Horsham pick up second league win of the season with victory against Kent side
After a surprise defeat away at County League side Pagham that knocked Horsham out of the Sussex Senior Cup Qauter Finals, Dom Di Paola will be hoping his side get back on track when they visit Corinthian-Casuals at King George’s Field on Saturday afternoon.
Having seen his side enjoy something of a resurgence throughout January, the beginning of February has seen Horsham’s form dented with two consecutive defeats, with Greenwich Borough enjoying a 0-2 win at Culver Road last weekend before disappointment at Nyetimber Lane.
Speaking to the West Sussex County Times after the Pagham debacle, Di Paola was unable to hide his anger, insisting that his side should be embarrassed with their performance and demanding a response against sixth place Casuals this weekend. “Regardless of a bad pitch and the fact Pagham were up for it, from one to 16 player-wise, it just was not good enough” he said.
With Casuals vying for a play-off place come the end of the season, Di Paola will know that his side’s task will not get any easier this weekend, but he insisted it makes little difference who his team face, provided they put in the performances demanded from his players.
With that said, the manager will not want reminding of the last time the two sides met in the reverse at Culver Road, when three goals in the first twenty minutes blew The Hornets away as they were steamrolled into a 1-4 loss to the Casuals with former Horsham striker Gabriel Odunaike netting against his old club.
Corinthian-Casuals have advised that a pitch inspection will take place at 9.30am Saturday morning. Details on if the game is to be postponed will be confirmed via our usual media outlets.
Kick off at King George’s Field is at 3pm, as usual, we will bring you updates via our social media accounts.
