Match Report

Lewes 4 Horsham 2

Two excellent goals by Dean Bown and Shane Cojocarel weren’t enough to prevent Lewes from celebrating a return to the Premier Division of the Bostik League after securing a 4-2 victory in front of over seven hundred fans at the Dripping Pan tonight. The home side got off to the perfect start with a fourth minute goal from Jonte Smith getting the party started and when Gus Sow added a second on the quarter of an hour, it looked like Lewes would be in for a comfortable night. But Dean Bown reduced the deficit with a fine goal and then hit the crossbar with a spectacular effort, just minutes after Harry Reed had given the Rooks a 3-1 lead. The second half took a while to spark into life and little more than ten minutes remained when Frankie Chappell powered home a header, only for Cojocarel to have the final say with a perfectly-executed volley, four minutes from time.
