U23 Constitution drawn up

A revamp of the Isthmian League’s U23 League will see the Hornets as one of fourteen teams who will be participating in the 2018/19 Bluefin Sports Insurance Development League South Division. Of the twenty-six clubs that made up the Central, North and South divisions last season, a dozen have withdrawn to leave just the North and South divisions comprising a slightly uneven ten and fourteen sides respectively.

East Grinstead Town, Shoreham and Leatherhead, who filled the bottom three places in the South Division in 2017/18, have moved on along with the bottom two markers in the Central Division – Ashford United and Whyteleafe – while in Burgess Hill Town and Margate, Bryan O’Toole’s men will face two of last season’s divisional champions. The Hillians will provide the opposition for one of four Sussex ‘derbies’ for Horsham, who also come up against Hastings United, Lewes and Three Bridges, but as well as the trip to Margate the U23s also face lengthy journeys to Ramsgate, Herne Bay and Sittingbourne.

The full line-up is as follows:

Burgess Hill Town
Carshalton Athletic
Cray Wanderers
Hastings United
Herne Bay
HORSHAM
Lewes
Margate
Molesey
Ramsgate
Sittingbourne
Thamesmead Town (who will play their home matches at Rochester United)
Three Bridges
Tooting & Mitcham United
