Hornets head to the Beacon tonight

The Hornets face their penultimate match before the start of the new Bostik League season tonight when they make the relatively short trip to Southern Combination League Hassocks (ko 7.45pm). The Robins’ unbroken run of twenty-three seasons in the County League top flight looked set to come to an end last April when they finished in the final relegation spot, only to avoid the drop when only two sides were demoted. The Beacon-based side, whose season gets underway when they host Broadbridge Heath this Saturday, have yet to taste victory this pre-season having been beaten by Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and lower league AFC Vardenians and Upper Beeding.

The last meeting between the two sides at The Beacon came in the opening match of the 2015/16 season when a Joe Shelley goal cancelled out Nathan Miles’ early strike.

Admission is £5 (adults) and £3 concessions
