Hornets Dunn by former favourite
Dom Di Paola has one final opportunity to run the rule over his players before the big kick-off when he takes his side to Tooting & Mitcham tomorrow (kick-off 3pm). The Hornets boss will have been disappointed not to have added to the four summer successes on Tuesday, when stubborn Hassocks claimed a 1-1 draw, and will no doubt remind his players that some of them will be playing for their place in next week’s team to take on Sittingbourne in the opening match of the new Bostik League South East Division.
Tooting, under former youth coach Ashley Bosah following the summer departure of manager Frank Wilson, were relegated from the Premier Division last April and will be playing Bostik South Central football in 2018/19. Their preparations for life in a lower division have met with mixed results in pre-season, drawing 1-1 at Staines, thumping Redhill 6-1 and coming from behind to defeat Whyteleafe but losing to Carshalton, Greenwich Borough and, most recently, Three Bridges. The Terrors are not without talented players, though, with three-time Hornet Billy Dunn having returned to Imperial Fields, along with new signing Omari Delgado-Hibbert (Greenwich), and striker Elijah Simpson who netted four times in that victory over Redhill.
Admission is £5 adults and £3 concessions.
