Weekend Youth round-up
Greens are back in action after two month wait
After the first team’s excellent FA Trophy win at Bury on Saturday, it was the turn of the youth sides to show what they could do in the cups on Sunday. Getting us off to a winning start were the U11s, who defeated Worthing Dynamos to make it three wins from three in the Emerald Cup thanks to goals from Jack M and Dan B. Horsham U13s were on the road in the first round of the Les Kempster Challenge Trophy (County Cup), taking on Hove Park Colts at Brighton & Hove Albion’s training centre where they, too, were victorious by a scoreline of 2-1 thanks to goals from Stan Berry and Frankie Mills.
Also in County Cup action were the U14s Green who met old rivals Worthing Town Red in the CP Mason Cup. But, despite restricting their opponents to just a single first half goal, the Reds came away with a 5-0 success. Sporting their new strip, U14s Amber travelled to Felpham Colts for an Arun & Chichester League fixture and returned home with a handsome 6-1 win where five different players got on the scoresheet; Max Warren, Joe Simpkin, Zain Beg, Leighton Read and Deon Mubaiwa all netting as did an unfortunate Felpham opponent.
More detailed reports will appear on the youth pages on Monday
