Horsham v Whitstable: through the lens
Match photographs from yesterday's victory over the Oystermen
In the fifth of six consecutive league games at home, Horsham take on Whitstable Town looking to continue their winning run in the league, and climb into the play-off places.
A 2-0 win at home against a struggling Greenwich Borough side lifted Dom Di Paola’s side to sixth, as they put behind their disappointment last weekend of losing to Bath City in the FA Trophy, but with points now the main focus for Di Paola, the chance to reinforce the believe that this side could mount a play-off place fight this campaign will be tested by the Kent visitors with designs themselves on finishing this campaign in the top half following their promotion as runners up in the Southern Counties East League last season.
This will be the eighth time The Hornets have faced The Oystermen, The last meeting came on 15th Match 2015 in our doomed relegation season as we fell to a 0-2 loss at Gorings Mead as Ian Pulman and Tom Loynes took home the spoils and condemned Anthony Storey’s side to a seventh straight defeat.
Whitstable currently sit eleventh so far, four points behind ourselves after our win put us on twenty-two points. The Ostermen have struggled with consistency in the league (W5, D3, L5), losing 3-1 away at Hastings United on Saturday however that match was the first loss in four, with wins against Greenwich Borough and Cheshunt taking them into the fifth round of the Velocity Trophy, coming either side of a 1-2 win away at Kent rivals Sittingbourne.
With the games coming thick and fast, the news that loanee signing Kieran Lavery’s transfer was confirmed earlier on Friday will be a welcome addition to The Hornets, with the former South Park striker expected to be included for selection with Di Paola keen to avoid squad fatigue.
Our game on Saturday has been kindly sponsored by HISC (Horsham Independent Supporters Club) who have also kindly sponsored the match ball as well. We thank them for their tremendous support.
Kick off gets underway at 3pm.
