Youth Round-Up

Horsham’s youth teams returned to action after the festive break with New Year good wishes to all and two good victories. An own goal enabled the U11s to take a share of the spoils from their Development League meeting with Worthing Dynamos but the big news was the U12s’ 3-0 win at Oakwood that sees them through to the quarter-finals of the County Cup. Sam Ayling, George Lee and an own goal proved the difference between the sides as the Hornets look forward to next Sunday’s last eight pairing with Worthing Brazilian Masters. Sadly Zach Jeanes’ goal wasn’t enough for the U13s, whose hopes of County Cup glory were ended by visiting ASC Strikers who edged a cagey affair 2-1. Horsham U14s were in league action and they made it seven wins from seven with an emphatic victory against old rivals Worthing Town Red. Zain Beg led the way with a hat-trick, ably supported in the goalscoring stakes by Sammy Henderson (2), Connor Collcutt (2), Joe Simpkin and Max Warren in a 9-1 win. Special mention to Barry, Angela and James for their hard work in getting the game on and providing the refreshments.
