Horsham U13s were given a generous guard of honour by opponents Worthing Town Blue today as they went in to their final match of the season looking to protect their unbeaten league record that had landed them the Arun & Chichester League title last weekend. With Matt Bell from tracksuit sponsors Sussex Tree Specialists watching on from the sidelines, the young Hornets raced in to a 3-0 half-time lead, thanks to Nathan Jones and a brace of goals from Frankie Mills, but a more even – and often scrappy – second half was shared with Luke Harrison and Worthing’s Fergal Takaza finding the net to give the Hornets a 4-1 victory. With their Development League games finished for the season, U11s manager Sam Jones took his squad up to Gander Green Lane to play Sutton United where, despite a good performance and a goal from Harry Long, they were defeated. Horsham U14 Amber were also in friendly action, taking on Marle Place in a match that saw both sides struggling for players due to Easter half term. However, this didn’t stop the Amber side running out 12-0 winners with Connor Collcutt scoring four times, Nico Massimo and Zain Beg chipping in with a goal apiece, and ‘a trialist’ making a very big impression by scoring a double hat-trick!
